We are trying to get our little guy to come out of his cage and get him to socialize. We would put the door down on the cage and let it sit onthe back of the couch.

This morning he would come almost all the way out but he would start sneezing a lot and runs back in to his cage
He really doenst sneeze a lot when hes in his cage and we are in the process of getting over an infection.

So is his sneezing just stress and nervousness of coming out of his little home? Hes only 5 weeks old and we brought him home last week so hes still unsure of the humans.

it could certainly be the new home sneezes or it could be something on the couch he's sensitive too. do you use sprays or perfumes in the house? maybe deodorizers like frebreeze or something similar? they do have very acute senses so i wouldn't be surprised if there are certain smells that they just don't like or can't stand.

We have the airwick plugins she would even smell them in the cage.

I guess a better question is do rats sneeze when they get a little nervous? As if hes getting more and more nervous the further he gets out of his cage.
