I got a new male rat about three weeks ago. He's currently about two months old. He acts perfectly healthy. He eats and drinks, and he explores his cage all the time. However, he sneezes a lot. Other than sneezing, there isn't any other obvious sign he's sick. Has anyone else ever experienced this?

What kind of bedding are you using? Rats are very sensitive to dust, that could be what's causing your rat to sneeze. Pine shavings and cedar shavings are not suitable for rats.

Aspen bedding ( I use that) and fleece is good to use. Other members may know more what can be used.

That's true, you should only use Aspen. Rats have a unique olfatory system, whaever they smell they taste. Imagine tasting Cedar all th time, and Cedar is toxic if ingested in large amounts.
Sometimes they sneeze if you're wearing perfume, cologne, or deoderant. Mine can't tolerate my Drakkar Noir so I stopped using it.

I've used aspen the entire time I've had them, but I'll look for other sources of the sneezing. Thanks!
