My ratties have a little wheel in their cage that they just love to run on. However, it squeaks terribly when they run on it. Is there anything I can put on it so that it will stop squeaking but will be safe for the rats if the decide to nibble on the area?

You can try some vegetable oil, or olive oil. Just a little should help. I have to do that to my mouse's wheel, too. Because it used to squeak ALL night long!

I think vegetable oil, or any cooking oil is pretty safe. If you use a cotton swab, or q-tip to wipe the veggie oil around the the parts that squeak then you shouldn't get too much extra on the wheel and there won't be as much for your rats to lick off. You'll probably need to re-apply the oil once a week or so, depending on how fast they wear it down. Hope that helps.

I gotta try the vege oil. Butter is a dairy product and i would have my reservations using it since it will spoil when not refrigerated.
