I personally think they hide it to keep me from realizing they didn't eat their lab blocks so they could get more food. And they rotate their hiding spots too. EAT YOUR LAB BLOCKS RATS

Same reason any animal does it, really... mostly to make sure no one else gets it, lol.

My rats only hide treats. If I'm handing out pieces of carrot or peas, a couple of my rats will grab some, make a mad dash for their hiding spot du jour, stash it away, and run back for more. A couple of my other rats hang back and wait for the treats to be stashed, and then eat those :lol:

Justin will take treats from me, run about two feet away and drop them, sometimes he gets a decent pile going. But its not hidden at all, its just plopped right down on the floor. His brother will take one treat and eat it, then come back for another will usually ends up snacking from Justins pile :roll: I don't ask... I just provide.
