Hello!
I plan on adopting a few rats from a co-worker after Christmas break.

I was browsing online for cages and found this one (show below - It is meant for birds, but it should still be okay I hope?)
Since I cannot find anything else in my region that's available with the right bar spacing for adult rats.

BUT I'm curious of how many rats would be more suitable for this cage, or the maximum amount of rats to fit.
This is my first time owning rats so I want to make sure I get things adequate to suit them.

Cage sizing:
Width = 53cm
Height = 94cm (excluding the stand)
Length = 80cm
Bar spacing = 1cm
(I am planning on buying some Perspex Sheets to cover the bottom for more room to dig/forage).

How many rats would this fit?

Hello, I would say two to four rats could live in this cage, make sure you add a lot of hammocks and climbing toys.
I will say though, it may be hard to access the rats as the door is in the middle.
Maybe you could make it work though!
Good luck!

This cage looks a lot like an Avi One 604, which is on the following website page.
***Edit: I've removed the link because the dimensions are slightly different, which could be confusing people. :)
It looks like people are onto it using the rat calculator to figure it out. (y)

I wouldnt put 6 rats in a cage that small though.
Cages like the cn says up to 10 rats can live in them. I had 3 boys in a cn sized cage, I could never put more than 5 in there.

Using a standard cage calculator allowing for 2.5 cubic feet per rat (some calculators only allow for 2 cubic feet, I’m opting for the calculators suggesting a bit more room), the number of rats is 5, so no more than five would be recommended. You can find cage calculators online anytime you want to check on how how suitable a cage is to hold a certain number of rats, there are quite a few sites, and most use either the 2 cubic feet or 2.5 cubic feet per rat rule. Hope that helps and is a bit more explanatory regarding how the numbers are arrived at!
