As many of you may know, I have a guinea pig rescue and was asked to take in 12 (which turned to 21 which turned to 19) rats, and this is what ended up happening-
To make a long story short, we're not going to end up getting the rats. We wound up finding somebody who specializes in them, and she is going to take care of it. We would have brought them here to seperate the sexes and pregnant/nursing ones (and maybe even keep some here to help out) but when we went there again today we saw that the male was no longer in with them and was already gotten, there didn't seem to be any pregnant ones (even though I could have SWORN there were at least 2 or 3), and the babies didn't make it
so no separations were needed.
Therefore, the woman said that she can just go get them from there tomorrow, and she can handle everything (but of course we're going to get updates!). I bought and donated supplies, but I feel bad I didn't get to bring them home and get them their homes. However, I guess that's for the best as somebody who's got their niche as rats is taking care of them and I won't be overwhelmed or in a spot where I don't know what to do. I'm also glad that I won't have to be hand-rearing any baby rats every two hours!
