My four dumbo girls are growing up and I thought it was time for an update! They are actually 19 weeks old today! So almost 5 months! I can't believe how fast the time has gone by. They were just 4 weeks old when I got them. It's hard to remember when they were that tiny.

So for the update-

The girls have all completely bonded with me. I really lucked out to get such an incredibly loving group of girls. If they ever get scared, they all want to climb to my shoulder and hide under my hair. I am their mommy and their safety. When I took two of them to the vet last week, Anya got scared when the vet tried to weigh her and quickly scampered up the front of my shirt and hid under my hair. LOL Each has her own personality and it's been so much fun getting to know them.

Here are some updated pictures and a little about each of them.

This is Cordelia or Cordy for short. She's probably the most affectionate. She loves to give kisses and be kissed. She wants to be held all the time. When I do hold her, she's content to just lay in my arms getting her back rubbed. She's a little mush and the sweetest thing ever!

Buffy! Gosh what can I say about Buffy? That girl is crazy! LOL She's the one I post so many threads about. She was the runt of the litter but she seems to have pretty much caught up in size. She's also the alpha- a very strong alpha. She makes it known to everybody that she is in charge! But she's also a very loving alpha. She takes care of her sisters and is very mothering toward them. It's really cute to watch. She hoards the food but she doesn't prevent her sisters from eating it. If there's a squabble in the cage, Buffy is first on the scene to break it up. She often sleeps alone just outside of where her sisters are sleeping and it literally looks as if she's guarding them. I know it's not because they won't let her sleep with them because they do and she does frequently sleep with the group but not until everybody is sound asleep and all is safe and quiet in the world.

Anya is my little clown. She keeps me laughing all the time. She's hilarious! She popcorns around the cage when she wants me to play "Get You" with my hand or when she's just happy to see me. She is also my little manicurist. She is obsessed with my nails! I usually keep my nails fairly long and so far she's been respectful of that and has not bitten them off. But she loves nothing more than to chew, lick, and suck on my fingernails! She's very gentle too! She has never gotten carried away or bitten me.

Willow is my sweet, quiet girl. She prefers to sit on the sidelines and watch while her crazy sisters are running around. But when she gets in the mood to play, she can be very silly too! The other girls tend to take advantage of Willow's sweet nature by stealing food and treats right out of her hands. But Buffy really takes care of Willow. It's like she knows that Willow sometimes needs a stronger rat to stick up for her, so Buffy does that. The other girls are usually very sweet to her though. What's not to love? They groom her all the time and she lets them. Why not? No need to pass up free grooming if they're giving it away! The picture below of Willow cracks me up because of the expression on her face while Anya was grooming her.

So that's my girls now, halfway into adulthood! Oh and here is the original thread from when I first got them- http://www.ratforum.com/showthread.php?t=212850

They really are! I'm a first time rat owner so I really did get lucky to have such a wonderful group for my first rats. I read constantly so that I can learn everything I can about rats and keeping them happy and healthy. So this journey of discovering all the wonderful things about my rats has been awesome and I look forward to what the future brings. I think I'll always have rats now. I'm hooked!
