I've posted a few times now about my little JD having HLD, and trying to look after him. I think it may be time for us to say goodbye. He has now reached a point where he cannot control his bowel/bladder at all, his skin is horridly infected from the urine, and even with constant cage cleaning and baths he is not getting any better. His starting to produce an awful lot of porphyrin, and the light is starting to go from his eyes. Even at playtime he's just hiding under whatever he can and not wanting to come out. He just doesn't seem happy, and as much as it breaks my heart I think it's time he went to the rainbow road.

The question I have is about his brother, Turk. I can't get any more ratties, as much as I wish I could. At the moment I really don't have the time to look after them like I should, and train them when they are that young. It wouldn't be fair to them. Thing is, I don't think it's fair to Turk to leave him alone. He's still young, only about 16 months old. He probably has a lot of life left in him, and I don't want it to be spent alone. Has anyone else been in a similar situation? What would you do? I'm thinking adoption but I don't know where to start.
