i live in maryland and we are having a small heat wave and im wondering what is too hot for a rat? right now the cage is about 72 degrees. Is that too much and what are some good ideas to cool down my little ratties?

what is that in celius?

as for way to help cool down a rat. a digging box where they can lay on the cool earth. a bottle of frozen water where they lay next to or on. a large dish with frozen peas or other small vegitable that they can go diving in. an air conditioned room. a fan (maybe, i'm not sure about the draft issue). a slab of stone like slate or granite (you can get rocks or rock perches in some pet stores under chinchilla products. not sure if reptile rocks would work as they are meant for heating but i think the heat comes from the heat lamp in the tank really). thats all of they ways i can think of.

that's a little bit warm but it shouldn't be enough to bother anything. though the digging box and pea diving would be fun for the rats at any time.
