I've seen the Dapper Rat idea about using a plastic bin for a temporary or travel cage. Their instructions say to cut the top out and put hardware cloth over it. Would it be okay to just drill holes in the top of the lid for ventilation? We've got the bin, but we're going to get our rats on Saturday and I'm not sure we're going to have time to go to the hardware store to get the hardware cloth.

depends on how much time they will be in there... if its only a fairly short distance, it should be ok, but if you're travelling across country, or across the state, then it wouldnt.

i use a birdcage as a travel cage.
