I've told a couple people, but I wanted to let others who might care know about how my rats are doing. We got a new vet, and he has been wonderful to us. Odin is on medications that help his breathing. He's still not 100% and I doubt he will ever be, I think he will always have problems but he isn't laying around all the time looking in pain either and he plays now! He will probably have to be on meds for life but I'm fine with that. Poor thing has permanent lung damage but I'm glad that steroids and abs and a bronchodialator are helping him! He's got tons more energy now!
And everyone else's sneezing has gone down after baytril to a very occasional amount. I'm so happy, everyone seems happier and healthier.
Bert seems to have become a butt head and won't accept any other rat than Bastian. So Bastian lives half of the time with Odin the other half with Bert. Morgan and Hobbes live in a separate cage. It's hard to pin point the culprit between Bert, Bastian, and Morgan unfortunately. I will probably eventually get one or two of them neutered but at $100/ rat that's a bit high for me especially with all the vet bills I've created this year and all the things I NEED for myself. They seem happy with this current arrangement however.
I'm so happy that it looks like I will have a few more months with Odin! I was so worried about having to pts him and nearly did at one point. He's come around so well with this new vet. I'm so glad he will work with me. Him and Bastian still have their one year birthday to celebrate O_O I'm going to make a cake. It was this month sometime so I need to do it before August!! Hobbes's birthday is coming up fast as well. He's such a sweetheart, so soft and snuggly and smells of berries. I love all my babies.
