I got so excited when I saw this topic. Environmental stimulus is so crucial...

There are some websites that have good ideas:
http://www.ratsauce.com/toys_games/index.php
http://www.rattycorner.com/funstuff/toys.shtml
http://pages.interlog.com/~audiotre/games.html

My personal favorites are:
Chasing the laser dot around the free roam space
Chasing the flash light around the free roam space with the light off
Water wrestling (My rats really love water... it is hand wrestling but in their swimming pool. Lots of splashing and chasing.)
Chasing the cat toy with feathers on the stick and string
Ice cube hockey (Good hot whether game. I use a large baking sheet as the rink and ice cubes for the puck. They get all slippy-slidey as the ice cubes melt.

Hey, that's very helpful! Thanks Whiskers :)
Liam, I'm in the same boat as you, except my babies are 10 weeks old.

this should be stickied!!!!!!!!!!! it is VERY important that your rats have time outside of their cage to explore and play games and such, so far Piggles favorite is playing "firemen" she climbs up a metal rod in the bathroom and slides down haha its great!

Haha, I never thought of the laser pointer or the flash light! Ill have to try that! My boys love chasing feathers and they have one of those plastic cat toys with the bell inside; they never chew on it though, only haul it around everywhere. I tried the ice cube thing, and they just tried to eat it, and after they realized it was cold, they just blankly stared at me like "what the **** is this?" LMAO, good ideas!

Mine did that, too... until I flicked the ice cubes at them and played back and forth. They seemed to understand, then!
