I give them a mix of Oxbow's regal rat and martins young mouse and rat food.

In the mornings they get a slice of cucumber cut up with 3 echinacea drops and from time to time chia seeds or flax seeds on top (once a week)

At night they get half a banana slice between the both of them.

As a treat every week they get a dried meal worm and from time to time, eggs.

Organic Spring Mix (fresh greens) as often as I can, usually every other day or so
RatGirl44's Grain Mix ~1x/wk
Packaged treats

On occasion:
Benebac, esp if stool is abnormal
Yogurt with flaxseed
Homemade treats (like scrambled eggs)
Dried mealworms

For a main diet I feed him Oxbow essentials regal rat adult rat food. But as treats I mainly stick to; grapes, plain sunflower seeds (without shell), and plain cheerios. Sometimes I will give them a bit of something else.

Question:

Today at PetsMart, I saw that Oxbow Regal Rat also has a food for babies.

I had already planned on the Harland Lab Blocks. Would it be okay to mix some of the Regal Rat with the lab blocks and eventually go to Regal Rat? Or are the blocks better for a growing rat?

I do like the size of the Regal Rat better...smaller.

Thanks for any advice. :)

Babies need a higher protein level, so as long as you're supplementing so they get it, then it should be fine. :)
