I want to know what happens if rats in big pet stores (e.g. Petco or pets at home) don't get sold, what happens? do they get killed or something or are they forced to breed, just curious.

Oh, dear... Rats at chain pet stores like Petco or PetSmart are more often meant to be "feeders" (snake food) and don't last long before being purchased. People still purchase them with the intention of keeping them but

Oh so sad and if they get a home they are so traumatized they die
