1. I let them out at around 7pm (usually when they are begging to come out)
2. They run out, while i interact for about 20 minutes
3. They run around while I am doing homework or am on my phone
4. I let them in at 8-8:30pm
How about you? Here is my playpen (attached to the cage!)

Nice playpen!
I don't have a set schedule. I generally let my rats out near the end of the day for about 2 hours per gender. During this time I play with them by training them, running around the room while they chase me, and hand wrestling them.

Busy and colorful! Nice play area :)

Mine is like this:

1. Wake them up at 6pm. They hop in the carrier and go to the Rattic
2. I sit with them for about 30 minutes and feed cream of wheat and eggy rice
3. About an hour on their own while I go get dinner
4. Back up to sit with them and play for another 30 minutes, then back to their cage.

I dont have a schedule. I just let them play whenever they are awake in a rat proof room while I sit and read or watch a show with them! While of course giving them treats.

I'm a rat owner to be and it's my first time. Should I be making a play pen?! The cage is kept in my bedroom, that's where I am usually so it it works. Is it fine to just let them out into my bedroom or do I need to make a pen?!

I have no schedule at all. If I am home and not cleaning, my rats are free to roam in my living room. Some days it’s from morning till evening, and others a few hours in the evening.
