My litter of 9 is now just over 3 weeks old. They are active and inquisitve, and when mom gets to play with my other rats, they want to join in! (The mom & baby cage is in the playroom). Are they too young to be introduced to the older rats? I don't want them to be mauled or traumatized. Usually my four grown up ratties are sweet and fairly easy going, though (all girls).

Should I wait? If yes, how old should they be?

older rats are typically very accepting of baby rats... but as a rule of thumb, always observe the interaction before you leave them unsupervised

Once you feel comfortable about putting them all together on a permanent basis make sure the babies have something small that they can get into & that the bigger rats cannot... this way if one of the bigger rats gets too aggressive they can duck away
