I live in the sarasota/osprey Florida area. I'm planning on getting 3 male rats from a breeder. I've checked that website that gives you a list of breeders in your state. I've been looking through those and narrowed them down to 2. I found one that sells neutered boys for 40 each. The rats look healthy and happy, but on their Instagram the breeder posts pictures and videos that are questionable. Such as a picture of very young rat babies on grass outside. They hadn't even opened their eyes yet. I'm not an expert in rat babies but it just seems off to me. She also shared a video of rats that look a few weeks old eating a chicken drumstick and sweet potato. It looks like a human meal and very greasy. On the website the only info is about how many babies are available. The other one I found seems more professional. In order to adopt you have to fill out an application that the breeder will review in order to see if you're eligible. They have a lot of info on their page. Such as what their breeding plans are, what food, bedding, and toys they used. They posted pictures of their rattery. They state that they will 100% take back any rats they bred for any reason and that they will support you for the entirety of the rats' lives. Should I go with the second breeder? After I reread what I wrote I feel like the choice is obvious but I would very much love feedback from other rat owners.
