* 30" x 18" x 24"
* Two ramps
* Two balconies
* Drop-in 3½" plastic pan

OR

* 30" x 18" x 24"
* 3½" drop in style plastic pan
* 2 full levels
* Ramps with small landing in between so ramp isn't steep
* Front door for access to bottom level
* Full flip-top lid for easy access to top level

I'm curious which one you guys think would be better because one has a second floor all together, but the other has more Hammock Space. Just kind of you guys have experience with what kinds of cages work best, so Lemme know, this will be for 2 Rats I put it in one of the calculators and it said it could hold like 3 rats if I used space right. But I don't want to over crowd them and I only plan on getting Two rats. I of course am getting the Powder coated!

I have the second cage. I really like it! I fill the top level with hammocks and stuff, and thats where my boy sleeps. And there is alot of room on the lower level also for whatever other stuff.

I'd go with the second, it'll be easier to clean with the flip-top.

I like the sounds of the second one to! It sounds like a lot more fun for your rats to explore, even if you can't put hammocks in their cage maybe you could somehow incorporate them into the free roaming area?!

Well I have a HUGE basement I will be rat proofing, thats what I used to have my ferrets play in, I would close my bedroom door, the basement door and the other un-finished part of the basement door, so that they were in the nice area where they couldn't possibly get hurt. Which is also where their cage will be right near my desk that will be in the basement. Which when I'm home is where I spend most my time, when I'm home. But their will always be cuddle time on my shoulder I'm sure. I cant wait till I get them!

Just remember to make sure that there are no exposed wires that they could chew on and that your basement like mine, isn't too damp or drafty. Otherwise it sounds like a good plan to me :)

I sleep in the basement (separate room near the main room that they would be in) its fine to me, Its not damp or drafty we always have dehumidifiers running any ways, So those will be, err, locked up or set up some how so the rats don't mess with them.
