Ever since I got them, my two adult male rats have had pretty intense buck grease. For a while I was feeding them 16-18% protein Harlan Teklad lab-blocks; recently I started feeding them 14% to see if it would cut down on all that grease, but they're just as greasy as before ._.

My boyfriend has a couple of adult males, feeds them the same thing as I do, and doesn't even need to bathe them because they're not greasy at all! What should I do? Are my rats just destined to need baths + be greaseballs forever?

Neutering could cut back in the buck grease. I believe buck grease is a result of testosterone levels being high.
