I live in walking distance from Petco. They do keep the boys and girls separate, but the cages(plus they use aquariums) are so small!
not very god living quarters.

i hate petco *grumbles* i have stated why in another post i am buying a cage from them tomorrow but only because it is on sale i will curse them out for everything they do after i purchase my cage LoL i have called animal control on them more than once already LoL they are gonna get shut down if i have to call again

I was in a petstore yesterday that had rats. The stickers on the aquariums said "Mostly Males" and "Mostly Females." There was even a litter of babies in one of the tanks, so sad.

that is awful. PetsMart takes the gender separation way far, and i feel that it's a sign that they are doing a little better than PetCo as far as small animals go. seeing as i was set on a hairless rat, i had to go PetsMart because the shelters by my house didn't have any, but i had to drive 20 miles to the next PetsMart since the fort collins PetsMart is a male-only store. pretty neat trip, i'll have to say.

I went to get Ed a cagemate, and there was a dead and trampled little ratty in the corner....I stormed out of the store crying and yelling about how horrible they are. My heart hurt so bad when I had to walk away from all of those cute little fuzzies living with a dead brother. -sniffle-

My mother did that for me, there was no way I could calmly tell them of what I saw. xD
