I got a bag of 12 plastic easter eggs from walmart for a dollar, and I put some rice crispies and a yogie in it, and tossed it in the cage.
Possibly the best decision I've ever made. Lady has NEVER played with anything that long before.
She got her little teeth into the holes in the top, and carried it around the cage for almost an hour!
She FINALLY got it open.
At one point, I reached into the cage to try and help her, I thought she had suffered enough, but she wasn't having ANY of that! She shoved that little egg under her, gave me a dirty look, and I swear I heard a little rat voice say "MINE!"

I highly suggest trying this for your rats.

Do you have a pic of the plastic easter eggs. I would definatly love to give this a try with my babies and see if they have just as much fun.

Haha Lady sounds just adorable :D
Here's the pics of the easter eggs, sorry for the delay!
First pic is closed egg, second is open egg with rice crispies and yogie!

I actually used those little cat toys with the bells in them, took out the bells between the little "bars" and stuck in a yogo treat. They are all currently obsessed and its funny. Nigel actually took the time to walk it carefully down the levels of his cage, which he normally just tears through things...so I know he loves it!

That's great guys! So far only Lady likes it, Bug is "above chewing through things for treats, it's undignified". She told me so.

Princess Ratty, I gave mine the jingly balls too, they love the sound. I don't especially like it at 4am.

My boys like jinglies too- I have a bird toy with a bell on it [don't worry, totally safe bird toy] and snitch runs up to it and bats it around to hear it jingle. XD

I wanted to thank the OP! I went and got an easter egg, added some of his favorite treats - and Feivel went BONKERS! He's been playing with it for the last twenty minutes! I've never seen him hold an attention span for this long. He's moving so quick with it I can't get a good picture, but I'll keep trying.

Thanks for the idea!
