I have heard that it is dusty, too. Personally, I haven't used it but I have used similar bedding and it has poor absorbency and gets really icky. If you want them to be able to dig, get them a digging box. Fill it with coconut coir or fluffy bedding, and almost all rats love it!

 

I used to use the brown (unbleached) Carefresh in my rats' litter box but found it got really stinky very fast. I imagine a whole cage of the stuff would smell real bad pretty quickly. MinkShadow's suggestion of a coconut coir dig box is great! I do this with my rats and they love it!

What are your opinions on this bedding? I currently use yesterdays news cat litter but it isn’t as fun to dig around it as this might be. I am not sure if its good for rats as many people say it’s dusty. Is it worth a try?

My daughters rat loves it, he loves to burrow in it!!!

 

Like any other loose substrate, Clean & Cozy is a little dusty. I found that it needed to be changed a bit more often than wood shavings but it's softer and fluffier.
